Contrasts of Europe - 15 day(s), England, Europe, France, Italy

Overview

It's often said 'it's not the destination that matters, it's the journey'. Both matter on this perfectly timetabled train holiday, as you travel by high-speed train into central Paris, Nice, Florence and Rome. It's Insider moments like… the guilty pleasure of literally touching history at the Colosseum. Imagining the baying Roman crowds waiting to take their seats for a violent gladiator battle – while you skip the queues, with priority entrance into this ancient arena. In the bowels of the amphitheatre, you can see the paths and cell-like rooms where slaves waited their fate before stepping out to 55,000 spectators. And you can feel the arches, steps, seats and walls which the Romans touched almost 2,000 years ago.
