Phoenix, Nov. 27, 2013. More than 856,000 Arizonans will be taking trips to visit family and friends this Thanksgiving, according to travel expert AAA.

Weather alert: AAA cautions air travelers to pack patience and check flight status before leaving home, as a nor’easter in the forecast may impact flight schedules across the country. The storm is expected to affect the northeast region from late Tuesday, Nov. 26, through Wednesday, Nov. 27

AAA’s Thanksgiving travel projections are derived from IHS Global Insight. The Labor Day holiday travel period is defined as trips that include travel of 50 miles or more from Wednesday, Nov. 27, to Sunday, Dec. 1. AAA has been reporting on holiday travel trends for more than two decades.
