The Sleigh Ride Continues: Unpredictability ‘Reins’ at the Pump

Phoenix, Dec. 24, 2013. Despite national prices jumping 3.6 cents this week to $3.258 a gallon, Arizona pump prices are staying the course this Christmas, with the statewide average edging up a mere half-cent to $3.144 per gallon.

“Nationwide, prices are being tugged higher due to 85.8 million Americans taking road trips over the year-end holidays,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “Though Arizona hasn’t been hit with a big increase, prices should settle once the holiday driving season ends.”

Tucson and Flagstaff hold the low and high state fuel averages at $3.062 and $3.360 per gallon, respectively. Missouri and Connecticut hold the lowest and highest average prices for the lower 48 states at $2.968 and $3.680 per gallon, respectively.
