Octane Knocked Down Another Week

One in four stations sells gas below $3 mark

Phoenix, Nov. 14, 2013. Though the overall statewide average hasn’t fallen below $3 a gallon, about one in four U.S. stations are selling gas for less than $3 per gallon today. The statewide average has continued dropping, falling 4.5 cents this week to $3.149 per gallon. The nationwide average declined almost 3 cents this week to $3.194 per gallon.

“Less expensive gas prices are providing welcome relief to motorists everywhere,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “It remains to be seen if the Arizona average will reach the $3 mark; however, breaching that threshold is a real possibility for the metro regions across the state.”

The East Valley and Flagstaff hold the low and high state fuel averages at $3.058 and $3.425 per gallon, respectively. Missouri and California hold the lowest and highest average prices for the lower 48 states at $2.845 and $3.601 per gallon, respectively.
