In Honor of the Season, Gas Prices Fall

Phoenix, Sept. 26, 2013. Gas prices are on a downhill streak – in a good way. The national average price at the pump has fallen for 25 straight days, which is the longest streak in 2013. The nationwide average dropped 6 cents to $3.434 per gallon. The statewide average has been dropping daily since Sept. 18 and has shed more than 3 cents this week to $3.356 per gallon.

“Sufficient supplies, flat demand, the lower price of crude oil and an impending move to cheaper winter-blend gasoline mean motorists will pay less to fill their tanks,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “Barring a hurricane or other unexpected disruption to gasoline production and distribution, AAA expects that retail prices will continue lower in the coming weeks.”

Tucson and Flagstaff hold the low and high state fuel averages at $3.271 and $3.593 per gallon, respectively. South Carolina and California hold the lowest and highest average prices for the lower 48 states at $3.113 and $3.960 per gallon, respectively.
