Fuel Prices Spooked Lower by Falling Crude Costs

AAA expects prices to fall even further

Phoenix, Oct. 24, 2013. Across the state and country, pump prices continue to inch towards the $3 mark. The statewide average dropped 1.7 cents this week to $3.257 per gallon. The nationwide average fell 3.1 cents this week to $3.329 per gallon.

“This week, the price of crude oil dropped below the $100 mark for the first time since July,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “The commodity’s price provides an effective floor for how low retail gas prices could go. As such, the shift below $100 per barrel supports the downward retail price trend we expect to continue in foreseeable future.”

The East Valley and Flagstaff hold the low and high state fuel averages at $3.156 and $3.516 per gallon, respectively. Missouri and California hold the lowest and highest average prices for the lower 48 states at $3.013 and $3.762 per gallon, respectively.
