Cheers! Drivers Save a Bit O'Green at the Pump

Phoenix, March 14, 2013. Drivers filling up at the pump this week might be doing a bit of an Irish jig. This week, the statewide average finally began to fall, dropping 1.2 cents over last week to $3.735 per gallon. Nationally, prices decreased almost 2 cents to $3.701 per gallon.

“While it’s good to see prices finally reverse course, it is too soon to say whether retail prices have peaked for the year,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “However, should we experience another bump in prices, AAA maintains that prices will likely crest lower and earlier than in recent years, barring unforeseen circumstances.”

Tucson and Scottsdale hold the low and high state fuel averages at $3.521 and $3.813 per gallon, respectively. Wyoming and California hold the lowest and highest average prices for the lower 48 states at $3.315 and $4.150 per gallon, respectively.
