Arizona Sees Slight Drop in Pump Prices

Five metro regions are within a quarter of $3 a gallon

Phoenix, Oct. 17, 2013. Fuel prices are still falling, but not at the breakneck speed seen in earlier weeks in the state and around the country. In Arizona, the statewide average dropped 1.3 cents this week to $3.274 per gallon. The nationwide average fell less than a penny this week to $3.360 per gallon.

“We’re still enjoying a large month-over-month decline, and should still experience a modest drop in pump prices over the next few weeks,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “However, if crude oil prices remain elevated, it would provide a fundamental floor of how low gas prices can ultimately go.”

The East Valley and Flagstaff hold the low and high state fuel averages at $3.173 and $3.526 per gallon, respectively. South Carolina and California hold the lowest and highest average prices for the lower 48 states at $3.145 and $3.790 per gallon, respectively.
