Arizona Pump Prices Fall to 6-Month Low

566,000 Arizonans plan to drive to their Labor Day destination

Phoenix, Aug. 22, 2013. For the fourth straight week, motorists are experiencing pump price relief. This week, the statewide average shed 3.6 cents to $3.425 per gallon. Nationally, prices fell by a half-cent to $3.534 per gallon.

“The end of the summer has arrived, and with it comes lower gas prices,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “AAA travel experts don’t believe pump prices are a major factor for consumers in determining whether they will travel for Labor Day. However, fuel prices falling to a six-month low is certainly good news for all motorists.”

Earlier this week, AAA released its annual Labor Day travel forecast. The forecast revealed that 83 percent of Arizonans traveling for the final three-day weekend will do so by car.

Tucson and Flagstaff hold the low and high state fuel averages at $3.330 and $3.682 per gallon, respectively. South Carolina and Connecticut hold the lowest and highest average prices for the lower 48 states at $3.223 and $3.917 per gallon, respectively.
