Arizona Continues to Enjoy Lower Pump Prices

Prices could dip below $3 a gallon by year end

Phoenix, Oct. 10, 2013. Sufficient supplies and flat demand have contributed to a continued downward trend in pump prices. In Arizona, the average has dropped more than 3 cents this week to $3.287 per gallon. The nationwide average also has declined, falling 2.5 cents this week to $3.351 per gallon. A year ago, Arizona prices were $3.80 a gallon, almost 42 cents higher than today.

“A host of factors, including a lack of hurricane activity, has helped keep gas prices marching steadily lower for three consecutive weeks,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “Given current market factors, it’s becoming a very real possibility that drivers in certain areas of the state could see fuel prices at or below the $3 mark before the year is through.”

Peoria and Flagstaff hold the low and high state fuel averages at $3.191 and $3.546 per gallon, respectively. South Carolina and California hold the lowest and highest average prices for the lower 48 states at $3.082 and $3.828 per gallon, respectively.
