AAA Gets Green Light for Newest Shops’ Environmental Efforts

Phoenix, May 13, 2013. AAA’s newest auto repair facilities in Scottsdale and Chandler are now certified Green Shops. The facilities earned environmental honors for finding reasonable and cost-effective ways to conserve resources and protect the environment.

The latest AAA shops to receive green designation are located at 15509 N. Hayden Road in Scottsdale and 6205 W. Chandler Blvd. in Chandler.

“As an automotive leader, consumers look to AAA to set industry standards,” said Don Nunnari, vice president of automotive services for AAA Arizona. “We set those standards high by developing the Green Shops program with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality. Today, we’re proud to say that all six AAA Auto Repair facilities are certified green.”

To become a Green Shop, facilities must demonstrate that they are reducing hazardous waste through the use of specialized equipment and cleaning methods. By using water-based cleaning systems instead of chemical solvents, for example, facilities generate less pollution while protecting employees from harmful chemicals.

The addition of these facilities brings the total number of AAA Green Shops in Arizona to 31.
