Iceland is the world's 18th largest island, and Europe's second largest island following Great Britain. It’s surprising - this mid-Atlantic island is the U.S.A.’s closest European neighbor, with a flight time from New York of less than five hours - and a sometimes misunderstood land. The climate is milder than most imagine, and nature can be both gentle and volcanic. Its traditions and culture are primarily Nordic, sharing a similar rugged spirit and love of the outdoors. Reykjavik is a city where you’ll feel safe to walk the streets. With its colorful houses, friendly people, and easy-walking city center, it’s like being in a big village. But this “village” has a multitude of cultural venues, gourmet restaurants, and stores. It also has the modern conveniences, services, and quality of living you would expect from a world-class city.
AAA's Sue McCloskey has visited Iceland eight times, often introducing members to Iceland for the first time on a AAA Vacations®
guided group vacation. She looks forward to sharing her love of Iceland with you on this springtime adventure.
