AAA Insurance offers Scholarship to Hispanic Students
Phoenix. Jan. 25, 2013. For the seventh year, AAA Insurance is helping Hispanic students achieve their dream of college education. With its "Si Se Puede" scholarship, the club is awarding five $1,000 scholarships for outstanding Hispanic high school seniors who will attend an Arizona college or university beginning in the fall of 2013.
“Giving back to the community in which we live and serve is paramount at AAA Arizona,” said Susan Mulligan, chairwoman of the employee community service committee for AAA Arizona. “We’re pleased to be able to support the education of five outstanding and deserving students with this scholarship.”
Each one-time award of $1,000 will be disbursed in the fall to help cover costs for the winners’ tuition and book expenses. Recipients of the award will also receive a four-year AAA Classic membership, valued at more than $200.
To be eligible for the award, students must:
- Be of Hispanic heritage.
- Graduate from an Arizona high school in 2013.
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be an Arizona resident.
- Be enrolled full time in a degree-seeking program at an Arizona-accredited university or community college at the time of disbursement.
- Submit a two-page essay describing their career goals and commitment.
- Display at least a 3.0 high school grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
Through its Si Se Puede Scholarship, AAA Arizona has given $30,000 to help fund fund the college education of 30 students.
