AAA Honors Arizona’s Top Auto Shops
AAA recently unveiled its list of Top Shops, AAA Approved Auto Repair (AAR) facilities recognized for providing honest, reliable and quality service. For 2012, the award, now in its eleventh year, honors 27 auto repair facilities across Arizona.
“We created our AAR network to help our members find trusted auto repair facilities across the state,” said Don Nunnari, vice president of membership products and services for AAA Arizona. “The Top Shops represent the best shops in that network.”
To be considered for Top Shop designation, facilities must first be a part of AAA’s AAR network, which includes more than 120 auto repair and auto body facilities statewide. AAR facilities must adhere to more than 20 standards, including:
- An annual inspection by AAA representatives.
- Staff an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified technician or equivalent for each area of service offered.
- Guarantee effectiveness of repairs, parts, labor or components for a minimum of 12 months or 12,000 miles for AAA members.

Accept the final decision of AAA in resolving complaints concerning service to members’ vehicles.
In addition to these standards, Top Shop recipients must also:
- Maintain customer surveys with at least a 90 percent approval rating.
- Remain actively involved in the community through service groups and charities.

Uphold an exemplary business reputation.
Highlights for the 2012 Top Shop awards include:
- Three first-time winners (BRAKEmax #7 and #11 in Tucson and Accurate Automotive Attention in Yuma).
- Eight recipients have been awarded the designation for 10 or more years.
- Four shops have earned the Top Shop designation every year since the awards inception. Hickey Automotive in Green Valley, Airpark Auto Service in Scottsdale, Marshall’s Service Center in Scottsdale, and Borst Automotive in Tucson have received Top Shop honors for 11 consecutive years.
Below is the complete list of winners. The number next to the shop’s name indicates the consecutive years the facility has earned the Top Shop award.

AAA 2012 Top Shop award recipients were honored and presented with a plaque at a luncheon at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort in Phoenix on June 14.
