What is ADSN? Created as a pilot program by AAA Arizona in 2004, the AAA Approved Driving School Network (ADSN) serves the need for guidance on choosing a driving school. ADSN operates on the same principles as AAA’s highly successful Approved Auto Repair (AAR) program, which inspects and approves auto repair facilities. ADSN schools have undergone a similar process in order to become approved.

Why ADSN? The sad fact is, traffic crashes continue to be the number one cause of death for teens and adults, killing an estimated 43,000 people on our nation’s roadways every year. AAA believes an educated driver is a safer driver, and these tragic statistics underscore the need for better driver education programs. Consumers trust AAA for a variety of automotive resources and information, and now they can add driver training to that list.

What is the ADSN selection process? Consumers who select ADSN can rest easy knowing they have selected a driving school that has met high standards for driver training. AAA has developed a stringent list of requirements that ADSN schools must meet in order to become approved. The approval process is not easy, ensuring that only the best who apply for ADSN become approved.

To become an ADSN, schools must meet the following criteria:

• Must provide novice driver and/or driver improvement programs.
• Instructors must be certified by the MVD.
• Schools must offer a reduced rate to AAA members.
• Clean report from the BBB.
• School must be in good financial standing and not have any outstanding lawsuits on file with the Attorney General’s office.
• Maintain at least a 90% approval rating on customer surveys (AAA conducts the surveys).
• Schools must either teach using AAA curriculum, or they must agree to a thorough review of their curriculum by AAA driver training staff.
• Annual inspection of the school, equipment, curriculum and vehicles.
• Liability insurance.
• The school must also agree to binding arbitration in the event of a dispute between a AAA member and the school.

AAA Arizona currently has two ADSN schools that offer driver improvement courses.

Driving MBA Driving MBA is home to the only teen-driving course in Arizona that combines classroom, state-of-the-art simulation and on-road instruction. DrivingMBA has been featured in AutoWeek and Car & Driver Magazines as well as on local news stations. The school’s goal is to create a no-risk, safe environment that enables novice drivers to experience every situation imaginable. Drivers will learn basic driving fundamentals, defensive driving skills and sound driving habits. DrivingMBA also has programs for Senior’s and experienced drivers. Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving offers the Elite Driver Training Program for novice drivers. The course is offered by Bondurant in partnership with Driving MBA to provide teens with the proper foundation to become a safer driver, including increased confidence, awareness of surroundings, a better understanding of personal and vehicle limitations and respect for the road. The program includes collision avoidance exercises with emergency lane changes and braking distances, skid control in Bondurant skid cars as well as ABS brake and turn exercises. AAA members receive a 5 percent discount on the program.
